Patient Services

Seven Hills Surgical Associates offers a complete range of general and vascular surgical services for our patients.  Our surgeons are board-certified and trained in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of problems, including benign and malignant breast disease, hernia repairs, abdominal surgery (intestine, colorectal, gallbladder, appendix, etc.), endoscopy (colon and stomach endoscopy), surgery for gastroesophageal reflux, benign and malignant skin lesions, dialysis access surgery, and vascular surgery.  Many of these problems can be approached with advanced minimally invasive procedures.

We work together with patients, their families, other physicians and other health care providers to provide the care suited to your particular needs.

General Surgery

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on a variety of problems.  The General Surgeon has completed medical school, then a residency of five to seven years at an accredited teaching hospital.  Some of our surgeons have advanced training or have completed accredited fellowships in particular subspecialties.  The scope of our practice encompasses the following:

  • The alimentary tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon)
  • The breast (benign and malignant diseases)
  • Skin and soft tissue diseases
  • Surgical oncology (cancer surgery)
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Esophageal reflux disease
  • Hernias
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
  • Dialysis access surgery
  • Vascular Surgery (see section below)
  • Minimally-Invasive or Laparoscopic Surgery

New treatment techniques, surgical procedures and expanded medical services have resulted in more choices for patients.  Many abdominal procedures can be performed utilizing the advanced technology of laparoscopic surgery and other minimally-invasive techniques.  Laparoscopic technology uses a small video camera and customized instruments to perform surgery with minimal tissue.  This type of surgery is performed through several small incisions instead of a single long one, as in a traditional open procedure.  As a result, there is usually less pain, a quicker recovery time, a shorter hospital stay and lower risk of infection.

We use the laparoscopic approach for surgery of the abdomen, gallbladder, appendix, colon, certain hernias and gastroesophagel reflux disease.  The laparoscopic approach may not be appropriate for every patient depending on health history and physical condition.  Our surgeons will discuss the treatment options that best suit you.

Vascular Surgery

Vascular surgery deals with diseases of the circulation system.  This includes blocked or narrowed arteries from atherosclerosis, traumatic injuries to arteries, aneurysms and dialysis access surgery.

Atherosclerosis can cause decreased blood supply to a limb, leading to pain or even limb loss (amputation).  Often, blocked arteries can be treated with minimally-invasive percutaneous procedures to restore blood flow.  Sometimes, open surgical procedures are needed.  We specialize in both percutaneous and open procedures for atherosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis in the carotid (neck) arteries can narrow the arteries and lead to strokes.  We offer surgery to remove the plaque narrowing the arteries, thus decreasing the risk of stroke.

Aneurysms are dilated or swollen arteries, often found in the abdominal aorta or leg or arm arteries.  Some types of aneurysms can rupture and bleed, while other types are prone to clot, stopping blood flow.  We offer advanced minimally invasive treatment of many of these aneurysms.  Others we can address with open surgical procedures.

Dialysis access surgery refers to surgery on the arteries and veins of the arm so that dialysis can be performed.  This type of surgery is often done on an outpatient basis.

Surgical Oncology

Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery which focuses on the surgical management of cancer.  Our surgeons provide the surgical component of a multi-disciplinary team to provide evaluation and comprehensive treatment for patients with cancer and allied diseases, in conjunction with medical and radiation oncologists, to provide state of the art cancer care.

We have expertise in the treatment of breast cancer, colon and intestinal cancer and cancers of the skin and soft tissues.
